Welcome!
Hi, I’m Coach Shy!
I’m a mental skills coach, certified functional strength coach, certified youth wellness coach, varsity basketball coach, and former special education teacher with a passion for helping students, athletes, performers, and emerging adults build unshakable confidence, strong routines, and game-ready mindsets.

I meet my clients where they’re at—and help them grow from the inside out.
My "Why"
As a kid, the court gave me confidence, discipline, and direction—until college pressure cracked that foundation. Classes, practices, and expectations piled up, and the loudest battle became the one happening in my own head. I questioned my worth, felt disconnected from the identity I had built, and had no playbook for climbing out of the slump.

That low point became my launch pad.

That experience is exactly why I created Inner Drive Lab: a space where young people don’t just work hard—they learn to work inward.

My path to launching this work is rooted in lived experience—not just from the sidelines, but from the inside out. I earned a B.A. in Psychology, a Master’s in Sport & Exercise Psychology to better understand the inner game, and a Master’s in Special Education to support every kind of learner.

Along the way, I’ve worked in residential mental health facilities, taught as a special education teacher, and coached middle school AAU and high school varsity girls basketball. These roles—and my personal journey—have shown me just how much young people carry, and how often their mindset shapes their outcomes more than talent, grades, or performance ever could.

Today, I coach youth and emerging adults in the inner skills that fuel both sport and life: confidence, focus, self-talk, resilience, mindfulness, goal-setting, routine-building, and energy management. I continue to deepen this work through advanced training and certifications, including my pursuit of the Certified Youth Resilience Coach (CYRC) credential.

My goal isn’t just to help young people perform better—
it’s to help them feel grounded, trust themselves, and build skills they can carry far beyond the court, classroom, or season.

This is more than coaching.
This is the lab where growth begins from within.

About My Coaching Style
I believe young people grow best when they feel supported, understood, and challenged at the right pace. My coaching blends sport psychology, youth development, and real-world mindset tools that youth, athletes and performers can use in school, sports, and everyday life.
Sessions are calm, supportive, and judgment-free. We focus on confidence, emotional regulation, self-talk, focus, and routine-building — practical skills that help young people feel in control, especially during pressure or self-doubt.
My goal is simple: to help every young person trust themselves, manage hard moments, bounce back from setbacks, and show up as their best self — on and off the field or stage.
